The Institute of Biomedical Engineering is offering a

PhD Position: Data-driven Modelling of Brain Wave Dynamics during Sleep (m/f/d)

Your profile:

• Hold or be near completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience, or a related field.
• Excellent background in machine learning and generative AI. Experience with the application of transformers in the context of biomedical signal processing would be advantageous.
• Demonstrate a strong interest in topics related to sleep and brain physiology and the application of technology to improve health outcomes.
• Have a strong interest and aptitude for algorithm development and time-series data analysis.
• Familiarity with relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and data handling techniques is highly desirable.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to cutting-edge research.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Be team-oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team and clinical partners.

Your responsibilities:

• Conducting cutting-edge research into the modelling of EEG and sleep patterns.
• Designing and implementing algorithms for generating artificial EEG waveforms from wearable data.
• Analysing large datasets of physiological data to identify patterns and digital biomarkers relevant to sleep quality.
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals and neuroscientists to ensure the clinical relevance and usability of developed solutions.
• Contributing to the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.
• Staying up to date with the latest advancements in wearable technology, generative AI, and sleep research.
