The Department of Molecular Psychology at the Institute of Psychology and Education at Ulm University research questions at the interface of (personality) psychology, neuroscience, and computer science. In this context, the molecular aspects of individual differences in personality, emotion, cognitive abilities, and behavior are investigated in combination with numerous cyberpsychology topics including the use of mobile sensing and digital phenotyping methods. The department is characterized by a very high international visibility and excellent development opportunities for scientists. Furthermore, employees of the department are provided with flexible working schedules.

Your profile:

  • PhD in psychology or neuroscience
  • very good skills in minimum one of the following neuroscientific methods: molecular genetics, epigenetics, endocrinology, imaging methods of the brain; missing skills in neuroscientific methods can be compensated by excellent data science skills, but it is essential that the candidate will be keen to work him-/herself into the neuroscientific research area in the department
  • very good skills in quantitative data analysis with R or python
  • self-motivated working style, very good communication, team, and organization skills
  • very good English skills
  • experience and/or interest to work at the intersection of (personality-)psychology, neuroscience and computer science

Your responsibilities:

  • work in both the molecular genetics and endocrinology lab: real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis, mRNA-expression analysis, ELISA-techniques
  • teaching activities in the areas of “Differential Psychology“ (BSc), “Experimental Laboratory” (BSc) and “Measuring, Testing, and Evaluation“ (MSc), or project seminars (MSc)
  • conducting research among others in Personality Neuroscience
  • conception and conducting own studies (including writing ethics proposals, programming, and data collection, drafting as well as publishing peer-reviewed articles)
  • support with departmental (including administrative) tasks ; including on-site supervision of student assistants and interns, etc.
  • on-site supervision of students with their Bachelor's and/or Master's theses
  • own further scientific qualification (PostDoc)
