For the Emmy-Noether group SPECSY at the Institute of Theoretical Chemistry there is an open position for an

Academic employee (m/f/d)
(PhD student)

The project is concerned with fundamental questions regarding the properties of electrochemical interfaces for batteries and solar water splitting. Here, semiconductors and metals in electrolytes will be studied by means of electronic structure calculations and computational spectroscopy to understand potential-dependent changes of the electrode’s structure.

Your profile:

  • Degree in physics, chemistry or materials science
  • Very good English language proficiency
  • Experience in electronic structure calculations (DFT, MD) desirable
  • High Motivation and the ability to work in the field of application-oriented fundamental science

Your responsibilities:

  • Planning, implementation, and analysis of density functional theory (DFT) calculations
  • Implementation of computational spectroscopy calculations
  • Close cooperation with experimentalists
  • Presentation of results on international conferences and in journals
  • The PhD position will be located at the Institute of Theoretical Chemistry and the successful applicant will take part in the graduate school ”Electrochemical Energy Storage”.
