For the Institute of Botany we are looking for a

Postdoctoral scientist in molecular plant physiology (m/f/d)

We seek to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and particularly encourage qualified female scientists to apply for this position.

Severely disabled applicants with equal aptitude will be given preferential consideration.

Full-time positions are generally divisible.

The Institute of Botany investigates the mechanistic basis for the reactions of plants to their environment. The new professorship for Molecular Botany studies the molecular mechanisms of plant immunity and its interaction with growth/development and abiotic stress responses. The focus of the research group is on cell surface receptors that recognise endogenous peptides. Our group works at the interface of biotic and abiotic stress responses and aims to understand how these are coordinated with plant developmental programmes. The project is based on the identification of a family of endogenous peptides that coordinate plant nitrogen availability with immunity.

The successful candidate will apply modern biochemical, cell biological, genetic and physiological methods to study peptide signalling in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana.

Your profile:

    • Completed doctorate/PhD in the field of botany, biology, biochemistry or a similar discipline
    • Enthusiasm for research and teaching (molecular plant physiology)
    • Strong interest in receptor biology and molecular plant physiology is essential
