For the Centre for Languages and Additional Skills at Ulm University we are looking for a

Lecturer for special tasks in Business English (m/f/d)

The Centre for Languages and Additional Skills (ZSZ) is an organisational unit of the Department of Humanities at Ulm University. As a central academic institution, the department is responsible for research and teaching in the fields of languages, philosophy and general academic continuing education. It teaches key interdisciplinary skills using both analogue and digital teaching methods. Ulm University is a young, internationally renowned research university with a future-oriented range of programmes.

To expand our team, we are looking for a person who will primarily take on teaching and examination tasks in practical language training courses for the bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in Economics. The focus of the teaching activity is Business English.


Your profile:

    • Completed university degree of at least six semesters at a German university or an equivalent foreign academic degree in a subject area suitable for teaching, preferably in English, foreign language teaching or economics with a focus on language teaching
    • Native-level English skills (proof of CEFR C2 or equivalent)
    • If possible, several years of full-time experience teaching English in a university or business environment (EAP/ESP/EFL)
    • Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
    • Good written and spoken German skills for working in an academic environment
    • Knowledge of business administration and economics as well as an interest in economic contexts
    • Experience with digital teaching and virtual learning environments; knowledge of Moodle is an advantage
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills as well as enjoyment of interdisciplinary work
    • Proven pedagogical, didactic and intercultural competence

Your responsibilities:

    • High-quality teaching at bachelor's and master's level (lectures, seminars)
    • Design and further development of innovative and needs-based teaching courses for business English, creation of course materials and assessment
    • Teaching business communication
    • Promoting students’ language skills in line with their career goals
    • Helping to coordinate the curriculum
    • Supporting language tests
